Utah Valley Student of the Week: Katy Cox
Katy Cox, a senior at Provo High School is a smart, ambitious and kind student who actively participates in school as the drama president. For these reasons and many others, she has been selected as the Daily Herald Student of the Week.
Katy is highly dedicated to her studies and devotes much of her time to choir and theater. She loves these classes because they allow her to express herself and be a part of a creative environment. Earlier this year, she and classmate David Mitchell took 1st place in the Duo Scene category against 38 others at the Utah Shakespeare Festival’s High School Shakespeare Competition, each earning the Ray Jones Award.
Aside from her favorite classes, Katy enjoys coming to school because she gets to interact with a diverse student body. She likes talking with people who think differently than she does.
When she’s not in class, you can find Katy in the auditorium after school every day practicing for their next musical, “The Scarlet Pimpernel.” If she didn’t have homework or rehearsal, Katy would use her free time to test out DIY projects from Pinterest. When Katy graduates high school, she plans on going to college to receive a degree in music with a minor in theater.
