Beaver Dam man arrested in $9.6 million cocaine ring case
FOND DU LAC — A Beaver Dam man was arrested in a case involving a $9.6 million cocaine ring out of Fond du Lac.
John Sobrilsky, 52, is one of more than 15 people police allege to have been involved with a drug trafficking ring that brought around 127 pounds of cocaine to the streets of Fond du Lac. He is charged in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court with conspiracy to manufacture or deliver more than 40 pounds of cocaine, which could carry a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, a $100,000 fine, or both should he be convicted.
The investigation brought together local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, who allege a wide-ranging conspiracy across two states, multiple cities and into Fond du Lac.
According to his criminal complaint, an undercover officer with the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group drug unit bought cocaine from Sobrilsky in a parking lot in downtown Fond du Lac. The parking lot is behind a residential substance abuse center for women under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Police accuse Sobrilsky of receiving crack cocaine from Danny Andrews, 30, of Milwaukee, and selling it out of a residence in Fond du Lac. Andrews and his girlfriend, Nichole Cassola, 29, are accused of transporting cocaine from Milwaukee, armed with guns, to Fond du Lac to cook and sell. Officers confiscated several firearms in the course of the investigation.
The complaint alleges police found 252 phone contacts between Sobrilsky and Andrews between late December and late March, including 87 drug-related text messages.
Police are still searching for Dennis Armstrong, 68, of Fond du Lac on an outstanding arrest warrant. Sobrilsky, Cassola and Andrews are in custody after being charged with an alleged role, as are Kayley Kropp, 23, of North Fond du Lac; Nichole Pauly, 35; Lashonda Cruckson, 36; Lateef Strong, 42; Michael Liebelt, 34; Tony Potratz, 34; Ulysses Brown, 37; Jacob Feller, 32; and Veronica Fannan, 21, all of Fond du Lac, as well as Joseph Davis, 23, of Milwaukee. Duane Biesterveld, 42, of Fond du Lac was arrested and released after posting bond.
Sobrilsky is in the Fond du Lac County jail on $20,000 bond following his arrest earlier this week. A preliminary hearing in his case is scheduled for Sept. 20.
