Norfolk Catholic football wins sixth in a row; turns attention to Stanton
The Lincoln Journal Star top ranked and Omaha World Herald second ranked in Class ‘C-2’ Norfolk Catholic football team is 6-1 on the year after beating Battle Creek at home last Friday 21-7.
The Knights got three touchdown passes from Cayden Cunningham in the win. Ryan Vetter caught two of the scores and Jack Marsden nabbed a 70 yard fourth quarter touchdown. Ethan Piper recorded ten tackles, a sack, and two tackles for loss in the win. Norfolk Catholic, who has beaten David City Aquinas, St. Paul, BRLD, Crofton, Hartington Cedar Catholic, and Battle Creek while falling to Pierce is outscoring their opponents on average through seven games 40.3-17.9. Cunningham has been the starting quarterback since the first game of the year after a collarbone injury to Nate Brungardt. Brungardt returned last week and shared time with Cunningham in the win. Norfolk Catholic returns to action on Friday night when they visit 2-5 Stanton.
