POCATELLO — A woman allegedly stabbed her brother at a mobile home park Wednesday afternoon on the city’s north side following a verbal dispute, according to the Pocatello Police Department.

The stabbing occurred around 2 p.m. at a mobile home park on the 1700 block of West Quinn Road.

The man was rushed via Pocatello Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center after his sister allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen.

Pocatello police told the Journal on Wednesday evening that the stabbing victim was still in surgery but is expected to survive. Neither the man’s name nor the name of his sister has been released.

Police said they have made contact with the sister, but she has not yet been arrested or charged with any crime. Police said the stabbing remains under investigation, and no decision on criminal charges will be made until that investigation is completed.

Although the man’s sister is not in police custody, police said there is no threat to public safety.

A witness told the Journal that prior to the stabbing he heard the victim and a woman arguing in front of a mobile home at the mobile home park.

The witness said a few minutes later he saw a car speeding away from the mobile home. This was followed by several police vehicles and an ambulance responding to that residence for the stabbing, the witness said.

Police would not comment on whether the stabbing happened inside or outside of the mobile home. Police also would not say who reported the stabbing.

Pocatello police said they will release more information on Thursday about the incident.
