Police investigating apparent murder at Fairview Motel
KANKAKEE — Police are investigating the apparent murder of a woman who was found Wednesday morning at Fairview Courts Motel.
Jamie L. Jones, 35, of Momence, was found in a room about 11:30 a.m. by a motel manager.
“It appears to be a homicide,” said Chief Deputy Ken McCabe, of the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office. “We are still investigating. Her wounds do not appear to be self-inflicted.”
McCabe did not reveal the manner in which Jones died, citing the investigation.
A manager told the Daily Journal a woman checked into the room about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The woman paid $50 cash to stay in the room for one night.
The manager did not know how many people were staying in the room. They also were unable to confirm whether Jones was the woman who purchased the room for the night.
“Nobody heard anything last night,” the manager said. “In my 22 years here, I have never seen anything like this happen here.”
The motel is located in the 2500 block of South Schuyler Avenue about a half mile north of Exit 308 of Interstate 57.
The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for 9 a.m. today.
