Koepka can join elite company...NHL Game 5 in San Jose...Toronto hosts Game 3 of NBA East finals

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Brooks Koepka (KEHP’-kuh) starts the final round of the PGA Championship with a seven-shot lead and an opportunity to join some elite company. No one has ever lost a lead that large in a major championship. A victory would allow him to join Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson as the only players in the last 30 years to have won majors in three consecutive years.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ The San Jose Sharks return to their home ice this afternoon for what is now a best-of-three series against the St. Louis Blues. The two teams alternated wins in the first four games of the best-of-seven Western Conference finals. The team that wins the series will face the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals.

TORONTO (AP) _ The NBA Eastern Conference finals shift to Toronto tonight for Game 3. With the Raptors looking to rebound from two losses in Milwaukee, coach Nick Nurse is considering some lineup tweaks. Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry have held their own against Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH’-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON’-poh) and Khris Middleton, but they could use more help from the supporting cast.

ROME (AP) — Rafael Nadal has won his ninth Italian Open, beating longtime rival Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich) 6-0, 4-6, 6-1. It was the first time in 54 meetings that Nadal won a set against Djokovic without conceding a game. Earlier today in the women’s final earlier, Karolina Pliskova captured the biggest clay-court trophy of her career by beating Johanna Konta 6-3, 6-4.

KOSICE, Slovakia (AP) — The United States beat Germany 3-1 today at the world hockey championships. Dylan Larkin scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the third period and Jack Eichel (EYE’-kul) put the Americans ahead by two goals late in the third. It’s the fifth straight win for the U.S. team in Group A since opening the tournament with a 4-1 loss to the host Slovaks.
