Suspect in fatal Raleigh stabbing arrested in NY
A Raleigh man wanted in the stabbing death of his former girlfriend last month has been apprehended in New York, police said Friday.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 21-year-old Laquan Leon Williams.
Summer Robinson, 20, was stabbed to death in her car in the 4300 block of Skycrest Drive on Aug. 13.
Dustin Nguyen, who lives in the neighborhood, told WRAL News he was walking his girlfriend to her car when he saw two men and a woman arguing outside.
Nguyen said when the woman tried to drive away, one man put his arm through the window and stabbed her in the neck. Nguyen said the other man tried to stop him from hurting her.
Nyugen said he rushed over, took his shirt off and tried to apply pressure to her wounds while he called 911.
“She took two last gasps of air, but the next thing I knew, her arm was cold, and you could just see her eyes glaze over,” he said. “It’s something you won’t forget. I just wish I could have saved her life.”
Nguyen said the assailant then fled the scene.
According to an application for a search warrant for Williams’ Facebook account, he had stalked Robinson both physically and online for a while. The night of the attack, he followed her when she went to meet a friend, and when she tried to drive away after they argued, he reached through the window and stabbed her several times, the warrant application states.
There was no word Friday on when Williams might be returned from New York to Raleigh.
