LP’s Hubner Athletic Hall of Fame inductions Friday

La Porte High School has announced the induction of Mike Benjamin, Jack Bunce, Bill Shuta and Chris Yelich into the Hubner Athletic Hall of Fame. Ceremonies will take place on Friday night at about 6:30 p.m. between the JV and varsity boys basketball games versus Munster.

La Porte boys hoops sectional tickets on sale

La Porte High School is selling full tournament tickets for the Class 4A Penn Boys Basketball Sectional in the athletics office Thursday. Cost of a season ticket is $10. Single-session tickets will be available at the gate for $6.

SC’s King wins two events, AA

South Central freshman Makenna King won two events -- uneven bars (9.7) and vault (9.4) -- as well as all-around in a gymnastics meet with Wawasee, John Glenn and Bremen on Tuesday. King placed second on balance beam (9.05) and sixth on floor exercise (8.7).

Marquette state tickets, T-shirts on sale

Tickets for Saturday’s Class A Girls Basketball state finals between Marquette Catholic and Vincennes Rivet at Bankers Life Fieldhouse are on sale from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Thursday in the Marquette athletics office. Tickets are $15 and will also cover admission for the 2A contest. T-shirts will also be available for $7 or a ticket/t-shirt combination for $20. Any remaining tickets will be available Saturday at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse ticket office. Each ticket corresponds to a specific seat. It is not general admission. Fan sections are in the same location as last year. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m., one hour before tip-off. An all-school assembly wil be Friday morning at 8:45 in the Scholl Center. The team is scheduled to depart from campus at approximately 9:15 with Michigan City Police and Fire Department officials escorting the bus out of town.

WHME to carry Marquette state game

WHME, Channel 46 in South Bend, will air the Class A girls basketball state championship game Saturday as part of its broadcast of all four finals games.

Blazers boys hoops time change Friday

Marquette’s boys basketball game on Friday with Goshen will be a varsity-only contest and will begin at 6 p.m. and not 7:15, as originally scheduled. Players and parents will be recognized for Senior Night prior to tip-off with ceremonies taking place following the game.

Glenn boys hoops gets topped in OT

John Glenn’s boys basketball team dropped an overtime game, 61-60, at South Bend Washington on Tuesday night. Rob Porter led the Falcons (10-11, 3-8 Northern Indiana Conference) with 23 points, including four 3-pointers, and Carter Yung had 13 points. Glenn won the second half 31-21 to force overtime, but got outscored 22-11 in the opening quarter.

Yeti Race on Sunday

The Crazy Legs Race Series will host the Yeti Half Trail run at 8 a.m. on Sunday at Bluhm County Park in Westville. Trails maybe muddy, wet or snowy, so runners are urged to come prepared for the conditions. The course is three loops around the park with one aid station that is passed twice. Hydration packs are allowed. All runners receive a winter hat and gloves as well as a finisher’s medal. Runners have four hours, 30 minutes to complete the course.
