Fifth-grader severely injured in fight at S. Carolina school
WALTERBORO, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina school says one of its fifth-graders was wounded in a fight and has since been hospitalized.
The State reports the Colleton County School District says the Forest Hills Elementary School student was airlifted to medical center for treatment after the Monday fight. The district says one student has been suspended while it investigates the fight.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating the fight, which is said happened between two students. The cause and nature of the fight is unclear.
The fifth-grader’s condition is unclear. The district posted a statement online asking the community to “keep this student and her family in their thoughts.”
Authorities haven’t released the identities of those involved.
