Man gets 15 years for attacking man with hammer
LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder for attacking a man with a hammer.
The State reported Monday that 34-year-old John Patterson Hodges has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his plea last week. A 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office release says Hodges and the man were arguing in February when the man attempted to walk away. It says Hodges then hit him in the back of the head with the hammer.
It says Hodges beat the man’s face, head, chest and back with the hammer. It says witnesses report Hodges also repeatedly kicked the man. It says Hodges admitted to the attack, saying he “flipped and started hitting” the man. It says the man was treated for injuries including a collapsed lung and fractured rib.
