November 30, 2000

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) _ Christi Thomas scored 22 points as seventh-ranked Georgia overwhelmed Chattanooga 81-43 Wednesday night.

Thomas, a 6-foot-5 freshman, scored Georgia’s first basket one minute into the game and its last basket with 3:45 to play

The Lady Mocs (3-2) turned the ball over 24 times, shot just 25 percent and lost the battle of the boards 48-43 as Georgia (4-2) dominated in every aspect of the game.

Chattanooga suffered three long scoring droughts in the first half as Georgia steadily pulled away. When they could not get the ball to Thomas inside, Coco Miller and Deanna Nolan traded jumpers over the Chattanooga zone.

Damita Bullock led Chattanooga with nine points.

Tawana McDonald blocked two shots to move into fourth on the school career list. She has 164, one more than Tammye Jenkins had in 1987-91.
