Elizabeth Wright, 67, of Kankakee, passed away Friday (Nov. 9, 2018) at home.
Family and friends will gather from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Jones Funeral Home in Kankakee. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at the New Jackson Tabernacle COGIC, 668 East Mulberry St., Kankakee. Her pastor and brother, Pastor Tommy L. Wright, will be the officiant.
Elizabeth, nicknamed “Moses,” was born Aug. 12, 1951, in Darling, Miss., the daughter of Sidney C. and Otha N. Mitchell Wright. Elizabeth is a graduate of Westview High School.
She was employed and retired from Riverside Medical Center Dietary Department after 40 years of service. Elizabeth was a member of the New Jackson Tabernacle COGIC where she was a choir member and a member of the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved making jewelry, and she was a great photographer.
Surviving are her sisters, Stella Wright, of Kankakee, Inez Standberry, of Chicago, Mary (Pastor Alfred) Williams, of Kankakee, Janice (Willie) Houston, of Clarksdale, Miss., and Gennie Wright, of Kankakee; brothers, Sidney (Dorothy) Wright, of Jonesboro, Ga., Evangelist James Wright, of Kankakee, Nathan Wright, of Clarksdale, Miss., Pastor Tommy (Sherry) Wright, of Kankakee, and Elder Carl (Brenda) Wright, of Kankakee; uncle, Charles Mitchell; and aunt, Velmar Cole, of Cleveland; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Willie and Grover Wright; and sisters, LuEsther and Minnie Pearl Wright.
