Ky. police investigating fatal collision

ASHLAND — The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating a fatal, two-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday evening in the Globe community of Carter County.

According to a news release from Post 14, Marsha Scott, 61, of Morehead, was driving a 2006 Pontiac Montana mini-van when she turned left onto U.S. 60 from Reeves Lane at 5:37 p.m. without noticing a 2000 Suzuki Marauder that was driven by Terry Johnson, 43, also of Morehead, who had his wife, Tonya Johnson, 43, as a passenger. According to the release, Johnson appeared to have braked to avoid the collision but struck the van.

Tonya Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene while Terry Johnson was hospitalized. Both were wearing helmets, according to the release. Neither occupant of the mini-van was injured.

No criminal charges have been filed as a result of the crash, according to the release, and alcohol use is not suspected. The collision remains under investigation.
