Debra Gallagher -- Waco, Texas

Debra Ann (Jackson) Gallagher, age 63, passed away at a care facility in Waco, Texas, on Dec. 17, 2018, from an inoperable brain tumor which caused her epilepsy.

Debra Ann was born on Oct. 30, 1955, in Endicott, N.Y., the fourth child of Edward and Mildred (Sherwood) Jackson. The family moved to Pine Island in 1957 from West Creek, N.Y. Debra was in the Lena Sparks 4-H club, enjoyed singing, playing flute and piano, and was an excellent swimmer. She continued to enjoy the piano and swimming in her adult life. Deb graduated from Pine Island High School on May 30, 1974. After graduation, she attended college in Minnesota and moved to Florida in 1978, where she became a cosmetologist. Debra married in 1979 and had two sons, James A. Jackson and Robert C. Jackson.

Debra struggled with epilepsy and a brain tumor most of her life. She entered a care facility in Temple, Texas, in 2008.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Lee Gutterman. She is survived by her sons, James A. (Amber Skinkis) Jackson, Little Chute, Wis., and Robert C. Jackson of Sherman, Texas; grandsons, Sawyer Jackson and Dylan Jackson; brothers, David (Jeanne) Jackson, Joseph (Lowellene) Jackson, James E. (Sandra) Jackson and Mark (Geraldine) Jackson; and many nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will take place in Texas in 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Epilepsy Foundation Texas, 2401 Fountain View Drive, Suite 900, Houston, TX 77057 or donor’s choice.
