Mayville man to spend 7 years in prison for sexually assaulting teen
JUNEAU — A Mayville man was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl multiple times.
Jose Romeo Ibarra Ovalle, 42, who is being held in the Dodge County Jail, was found guilty on Oct. 25 of sexual assault of a child under the age of 16 and repeated sexual assault of a child.
Dodge County Circuit Court Judge Steven Bauer imposed the seven-year prison sentence with 10 years of an extended sentence. Ibarra Ovalle must register as a sex offender.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl was staying at a family member’s house in Mayville the night of June 5 when Ibarra Ovalle was intoxicated and allegedly touched her inappropriately. The girl called her mother to pick her up and she left when her mother arrived.
Ibarra Ovalle was interviewed by police June 7, and he allegedly admitted to inappropriately touching the girl. According to the complaint, he also said that he had kissed the girl and had sexual intercourse with the girl about five times over the course of the previous year.
