Mental health center hosting bingo night

December 30, 2018

Somerset area mental health center Our Place will host a Bingo and Dinner night on Friday at the Somerset Senior Community Service Center along South Edgewood Ave.

Director Tammy Pressley said that the bingo night is one of the center’s major annual fundraisers. The funds allow the mental health patients to have events, go to movies or have dinners.

“They all have a blast,” she said.

The center, which is owned by Community Alliance for Recovery, provides daily activities for about 25 mental health patients during the week. The patients also volunteer at the bingo night and the center’s annual basket party.

The bingo night also includes a spaghetti dinner at 4 p.m. Other foods will also be included. Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.

Pressley said that bingo payouts will be $100 if more than 100 people attend, and $75 if less than 100 attend.

Tickets can also be purchased ahead of the event by calling 814-521-7808.

“These fundraisers have been really helpful,” Pressley said. “I hope this one is a success.”

The center’s basket party will be held during the second weekend in April at Somerset Area High School. Pressley said so many people attended last year’s basket party that she had to find a bigger space for this year.

She also said the center will be changing its weekly schedule in January with hours from Monday to Thursday.
