Woman held on arson charges after firehouse vehicle blaze
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 44-year-old woman is facing felony arson charges after an official says she was seen igniting two fires in downtown Las Vegas, including one that destroyed a personal vehicle parked at fire department headquarters.
Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski (zim-ANN’-skee) says Barbara Lynn Gooden was arrested early Tuesday, shortly after she was seen pouring gasoline on a 1972 Ford Bronco and igniting it.
Gooden had been stopped by security guards minutes earlier, allegedly trying to burn a vehicle at the nearby Zappos corporate headquarters.
Szymanski described Gooden as homeless, with no connection to the vehicle owners.
Records show that Gooden is being held at the Clark County jail pending a Thursday court appearance.
It was not immediately clear if she had a lawyer to speak for her.
