Couple Beats Huge Odds Winning A Car A Year
MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) _ Patricia and Gary Angello won a brand new car for the second year in a row in the same high school raffle.
″I kept saying, ’Do you realize we are the people who won the Mercedes last year?‴ Mrs. Angello, 28, said.
She and her husband won a 1987 Dodge Lancer on Saturday in the raffle at East Catholic High School in Manchester.
The Angellos, who spent $65 for tickets, sold the 1986 Mercedes-Benz they won a year ago for $25,000, but they plan to keep the Dodge, which they have already equipped with a car seat for their son.
The Mercedes ″just wasn’t for us,″ Angello, 32, said.
The high school said 9,000 tickets were sold this year. A priest at the school computed the couple’s chances of winning both cars as 1.2 million-to-1.
