LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) _ Charles Puleri passed for three touchdowns, leading New Mexico State to a 40-10 win over Nevada-Las Vegas in the Big West Conference Saturday night.

Puleri completed 18 of 26 passes for 283 yards, utilizing 11 receivers as the Aggies (4-2 overall, 1-1 Big West) ended a two-game losing skid and recorded their first-ever win over UNLV (3-2, 1-1) in nine meetings.

New Mexico State led 24-7 at halftime behind two TD passes by Puleri and thereafter limited UNLV to only a 32-yard field goal by Nick Garritano.

Puleri connected with Ezell Brown on a 54-yard TD pass, Lawrence Truehill added a 2-yard scoring run and Bubba Culin kicked a 44-yard field goal as New Mexico State pulled away.

Puleri's first TD pass, a 59-yard throw to Atlas Reagor, gave New Mexico State a 17-0 lead in the second period.

UNLV quarterback John Ma'ae answered late in the second period with a 22- yard TD throw to wide-open Henry Bailey. The Aggies then drove to the UNLV 32, where Puleri found Fred Montgomery on another TD pass six seconds before halftime.

New Mexico State opened the scoring on Troy Dublin's 36-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
