Wilkes-Barre Issues Travel Advisory
WIlkes-Barre issued a winter weather travel advisory ahead of a forecast that calls for temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit tonight. Even though streets have been treated, the road salt is ineffective below 18 degrees Fahrenheit, the advisory said. Roads will be slippery. City officials urged motorists to use caution if travel and to only travel if it is absolutely necessary. The National Weather Service issued a wind chill warning that begins at 6 p.m. Sunday and runs through 7 p.m. Monday. Wind chills as low as 30 below zero are expected tonight through Monday.
