SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — Debates have been scheduled for candidates for governor and for the U.S. Senate.

The University of Rhode Island says it’s hosting the forums with Rhode Island Public Radio and The Providence Journal. The gubernatorial debate has been set for Oct. 15.

Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo, Republican nominee Allan Fung, Independent Joe Trillo and Moderate Party candidate William Gilbert will answer questions from a panel of journalists at URI’s Kingston Campus.

The university says Democratic U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and Republican challenger Robert Flanders will debate at the campus on Oct. 20.

The forums are open to the public. They will be streamed online and Rhode Island Public Radio will be on air during the events.
