Metro-North a Third World operation
“I was spot on in predicting more Positive Train Control delays” (Dec. 31 Jim Cameron column, “Conn. transportation predictions for 2019.”)
That stated, how Jim Cameron and the newspaper push to have these outrageously delayed Positive Train Controls to be implemented? What is the plan? Would your please describe the plan to the taxpayers and passengers of Metro-North. This would actually be helpful commentary.
“No movement in infrastructure investment by the Trump Administration” is stated. Why is Trump to blame for the deplorable Third World infrastructure throughout the State of Connecticut? Connecticut bankrupt itself a long time before 2016 when Donald Trump was elected.
Was Trump responsible for the deaths of those who were unfortunate enough to be on the Mianus River Bridge when it collapsed in 1983? When the Department of Transportation heard the multiple complaints about the declining bridge was President Trump around to ignore the complaints as the DOT ignored them?
“Lamont’s selection of Joseph Giulietti, former president of Metro-North, as his new commissioner is a brilliant move.” “Nobody else better understands the challenges of fixing our railroads.”
Surely this is stated in jest! Metro-North has now degraded into a Third World operation. It has not completed very basic safety controls, it is always tardy, the right of way is filthy with litter and debris and the infrastructure is dated, unsightly and crumbling.
Giulietti was president of Metro-North while all of this was happening.
This is truly very sad “commentary” by Jim Cameron. He has an opportunity to do the right thing for Connecticut yet for some reason he is silent.
