MARILYN LEONARD FERRELL, 72, of Delbarton, W.Va., passed away on July 17, 2018, due to complications from an unforeseen medical emergency in Fredericksburg, Va. Her parents, Charles Andrew and Mildred Bishop Leonard, brother, Charles Andrew Leonard Jr., and son, James Bradley Ferrell of Delbarton, West Virginia, preceded Marilyn in death. Surviving members of her immediate family include James Curtis Ferrell, husband of 53 years; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Kent and Jennifer Ferrell of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Charlene and Ernie Ritchie of Huntington, West Virginia; and grandchildren, Megan Ferrell of Knoxville, Tennessee, Kayla Ferrell of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Joshua Hall of New Orleans, Louisiana. Marilyn had many additional family members as well. Marilyn was not only a devoted wife and mother, but she was also an extremely active member of the community. She retired after many years of service to the state of West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services. She served as a board member to the Coalfield CAP committee and many other community-oriented groups. Her love of sports parlayed into years of involvement with Burch and Mingo Central High School sports as a statistician. The visitation will be on Saturday, July 21, from 6 to 9 p.m., and the funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at Chafin Funeral Home, Delbarton, W.Va.
