Morales, Gartland Selected by Bush
WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Bush on Monday announced his intention to name Diane Kay Morales as an assistant energy secretary and John Charles Gartland as chairman of the National Commission for Employment Policy.
Gartland, a member of the commission since March 1987, is director of Washington affairs for the Amway Corp. He previously served as executive assistant to the treasury secretary.
Morales, a vice president of Earth Technology Corp. in Alexandria, Va., is slated to be assistant energy secretary for environment, safety and health.
She was a member of the Civil Aeronautics Board in 1981-86, and formerly was deputy assistant secretary for policy at the Interior Department, and consultant for the Office of Management and Budget and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
