Darlington County traffic stop yields drugs, cash
LAMAR, S.C. -- Two men, one from Hartsville and the other from Bishopville, were arrested Friday afternoon following a traffic stop during which drugs were found in a vehicle -- along with a 3-year-old child.
A Darlington County Sheriff’s Deputy around 1:30 p.m. conducted the traffic stop at the intersection of Tomahawk Road and West Seven Pines Street near the Oates community, according to an agency release.
Deputies found about 120 grams of cocaine, 14 grams of methamphetamine and $2,000 cash in the car as a result of the stop.
Deputies arrested Frank Dewayne Hamilton, 41, of Bishopville, and Charles Bernard Byrd, 38, of Hartsville, according to the release.
Investigators will seek charges against Hamilton for unlawful conduct towards a child, trafficking methamphetamine and trafficking cocaine. Investigators will be seeking charges against Byrd for trafficking cocaine.
The child was turned over to a relative.
