Governor’s council tasked with boosting workforce education
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead has signed an executive order creating a new advisory council tasked with finding ways to increase the education of the state’s workforce.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports the Executive Educational Attainment Council will be responsible for coordinating the curricula of education providers to align with business trends, aiming to build a workforce that can meet the demands of emerging industries.
According to the governor’s order, the council will work with business and state representatives to develop plans within a five- and 10-year window to develop a workforce that could help attract industries to diversify the state’s economy.
State Department of Education Superintendent Jillian Balow says the order will ensure that stakeholders in workforce development are meeting more regularly.
