Minor earthquake rumbles Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A minor earthquake struck Rhode Island in the early morning hours.
Randy Baldwin, a geophysicist for the U.S. Geological Survey, says the magnitude 2.3 earthquake struck the Providence area at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.
He says it was centered about a mile southeast of Providence, and was likely felt within about a 10-mile radius.
There were 60 reports from people who said they felt it.
Earthquakes in New England are “not unusual” he said.
He said he would not expect any reports of damage from such a minor earthquake.
