All Hostages Leave Afghan Plane
STANSTED, England (AP) _ All of the roughly 150 passengers held hostage on a hijacked Afghan airliner exited the plane early Thursday, ending the crisis after nearly four days, police said.
About 85 men, women and children walked down the staircase of the plane about 3:50 a.m. (10:50 EST). Two hours later, about 65 more hostages were seen exiting the Ariana airlines plane, their hands in the air.
After the first group was released, police had said negotiations were continuing to win freedom for the dozens of other captives still aboard the Boeing 727, parked at Stansted airport north of London.
