COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Marywood Names Interim Lacrosse Coach
Marywood University has named Jon Knowles as interim head coach of its men’s lacrosse program for the upcoming season.
Knowles spent the past seven seasons as head coach at Scranton Prep, where he built the Cavaliers from a start-up program to a two-time District 2 runner-up squad.
Tyler Perrelle was Marywood’s coach for the past four seasons and compiled an overall record of 35-35, 20-8 in Colonial States Athletic Conference play. He left to become an assistant coach at the University of Tampa.
When the Pacers begin play in the spring, it will be the 12th season for the program and its first in the new Atlantic East Conference.
At Dallas, a second-half rally fell short and Misericordia University lost to Neumann University, 65-63, in a nonconference game at the Anderson Center.
Neumann led by 16 points at halftime, but the Cougars shot 77.8 percent from 3-point range in the second half (7 for 9), battled back in the final 7:15 to within two points and had the final possession. However, they were unable to get off a shot.
Mid Valley graduate Jason Kenny led the Cougars (4-2) with 17 points and Stone McCreary added 16. Foster Clark had 12 points and Noah Rivera had a team-high 11 rebounds.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis led Neumann with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
