‘ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN’: PATRICK PATTERSON HOSTS HOOPS CAMP AT HUNTINGTON HIGH

August 3, 2018

Oklahoma City Thunder forward and Huntington High graduate Patrick Patterson checks in on a drill during his basketball camp on Wednesday at Huntington High School.

HUNTINGTON — Destani Huffman felt like a lot of NBA players who try to drive the lane on Patrick Patterson.

“I was so nervous. My stomach was churning and I thought I was going to cry,” said Huffman, a junior point guard at Lincoln County High School. But as an attendee Wednesday at Patterson’s youth basketball camp at Huntington High School, she worked up the nerve to talk to the 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward/center with the Oklahoma City Thunder and found him to be funny and charming.

Huffman’s experience was exactly what Patterson hoped. “It’s all about having fun,” the former Huntington High and University of Kentucky star said of his goal for the campers. “We want it to be tough. We want them to work on their craft and develop their skills.”
