NEEDLES — Explore the challenges of operating a giant system providing water to millions in the Desert Southwest during a presentation on city participation in a lower Colorado River tour. The tour was conducted Feb. 27 through March 1. The presentation comes during the Needles City Council meeting of Tuesday, March 26.
Public session begins at 6 p.m. in council chambers, 1111 Bailey Ave. at J Street. City councilors will also consider items as the Needles Public Utility Authority and Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency. The agenda includes:

• Adopting an ordinance relating to an exclusive franchise agreement with Allied Waste Transportation Inc. for collection and handling of solid waste.
• Discussion of deploying trash containers at Needles Area Transit bus stops; and for permitting ‘Safe and Sane’ fireworks within the city.
