Two Are Killed in Wrong-way, 4-car Crash on Interstate 495
DRACUT -- A Dracut man was uninjured in a four-vehicle crash that killed two people on Interstate 495 at the Andover-Lawrence line shortly before noon Wednesday, authorities say.
A 38-year-old Lawrence woman and a 56-year-old Lawrence man died at the scene just south of Exit 42A, according to a State Police press release.
An initial investigation determined the woman was driving a 2016 Kia Sportage south on I-495 when she traveled through the median into the northbound lanes, the release states. The Kia sideswiped a 2004 Ford F-350 pickup driven by a 59-year-old Dracut man. The Kia then continued and struck a 2003 Honda Pilot head-on.
The Honda was driven by a 55-year-old woman Lawrence woman. The man killed in the crash was the passenger of the Honda, police state.
The Kia then struck a 2016 Toyota RAV4 operated by a 58-year-old woman, who had a 27-year-old woman passenger, both of Andover.
The woman driving the Honda was transported to Lawrence General Hospital with serious injuries, according to police. The Andover women were transported to Lawrence General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Dracut man was the only man uninjured in the wreck.
