Stock Prices Are Little Changed

NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices are showing little early change on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones industrial average is down 23 points. Gainers outnumber losers by about 4-3 on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Nasdaq Composite Index is up two points and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Stock Index is fractionally lower.

Today’s calendar is free of any major economic data, though there are several key reports due to be released tomorrow and Friday.

Investors do have some corporate news on the plate today. Qwest posted another quarterly loss, in line with estimates.

Corning has announced overseas job cuts and warns about fourth-quarter results.

And Wal-Mart shares were downgraded by Goldman Sachs, based on valuation.

Equities averages have been modestly higher today in overseas trading.
