Pavin Three Behind at SK Telecom
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) _ Corey Pavin shot a 5-under-par 67 Thursday and was three strokes behind first-round leader K.J. Choi of South Korea at the Asian PGA Tour’s SK Telecom Open.
Pavin, the 1995 U.S. Open champion, had a bogey-free round and was tied for seventh place at the 7,079-yard, Baekahmvista Country Club course.
Choi, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour last year, started on the back nine and opened with three straight birdies. He finished at 8-under 64, two strokes ahead of Australia’s David Gleeson, Japan’s Katsuhiko Yamazaki, Taiwan’s Hong Chia-yuh and South Korea’s Kang Wook-soon and Kim Tae-bok.
