July 4, 2018

A Lake Havasu City man was arrested June 17 on charges of DUI to the slightest degree, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police encountered Rosario Ruacho-Zavala, 42, when they noticed his vehicle parked on Swanson Avenue with its hazard lights flashing. Officers approached to render assistance, the police report said.

According to police, Zavala told officers he’d parked his vehicle and turned on his hazard lights because he was waiting for a friend. Officers allegedly observed the odor of alcohol within Zavala’s vehicle, and asked him to exit the vehicle. Zavala appeared to be visibly impaired, the police report said. Zavala was administered a series of field sobriety tests, on which he performed poorly, according to officers.

Zavala was arrested at the scene, and a search of his person allegedly yielded a plastic bag containing suspected cocaine. He was transported to Lake Havasu City Jail, where he consented to having his blood drawn for testing, the report said.
