Good to the last drop

December 18, 2018

STERLING – Main Squeeze, a natural juice, smoothie, and coffee shop on the east end of town, is closing for good at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Owner Veronica Machnicki, 65, who opened the shop at 2501 E. Lincolnway with husband Paul on Jan. 30, 2017, is retiring.

The couple also have operated Health and Nutrition Plus, kitty-corner across the street at 2252 E. Lincolnway, with their daughters since 1995. Daughter Jennifer Griswold bought that store in 2012; daughter Tina Johnson owned it before that.

Paul, 58, will continue to help out there.

The Machnickis opened their first nutrition store, the Herb Cellar, downtown in the late 1990s, and moved it to the former Ponderosa Restaurant, now Asian Buffet, at 3106 E. Lincolnway, before moving to their current location and changing the name to Health and Nutrition Plus in 2008.

You can drop by the Main Squeeze for one last sip from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. You also can find it on Facebook or call 815-716-8283 to send well-wishes.
