2 dead, 3 hurt in late night car crash
WINCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — Police say two people died and three others were injured in a late night car crash in Connecticut.
Police say all five people in the car that crashed into a tree off Route 8 in Winchester at about 11:30 p.m. Monday were from Winsted.
The driver, a 19-year-old woman, and the front-seat passenger, a 26-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene
A juvenile female was thrown from the rear seat of the car and was seriously injured. An 18-year-old man was also seriously injured, while a 22-year-old man suffered minor injuries.
No names were released.
Police say the Honda Civic was headed south when the driver apparently lost control, crossed the center line, drove off the road and crashed into a tree.
The cause remains under investigation.
