Girl, 5 drowns during pool party at Sumter hotel
SUMTER, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 5-year-old girl has drowned during a pool party at a Sumter hotel.
The Sumter County Coroner’s Office said Faith Gilmore was found underwater at the Econo Lodge during the party Saturday. She died a short time later at the hospital.
Coroner Robbie Baker said in a statement he is awaiting autopsy results, but it appears the girl died in an accidental drowning.
Sumter Police are also investigating the death.
