Danbury Old Timers Brady to receive civic award
The Greater Danbury Old Timers Athletic Association will honor Peter Brady with a civic award at its annual banquet, set for Sept. 27 at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury.
Brady played competitive racquetball and established a tournament that lasted 15 years at the YMCA in Brookfield. In 2000, he founded the Handy Dandy Handyman company, which provides free construction and landscaping services, among other things, to those in need. The company is still active in helping families in greater Danbury, and has gathered nearly 2,000 volunteers. He has generated tremendous youth participation in his programs, especially the annual Rake-n-Bake event, for which nearly 500 young people regularly sign up to help.
Tickets to the banquet cost $45 and are available from Frank Demunda, who can be reached at 203-748-7998 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets are also available at Pembroke Pumping and Iovino Brothers, both in Danbury. Tickets will not be available at the door.
