Heinz unleashing Mayochup in the U.S. because who has time to mix condiments?

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Mayochup -- the condiment you never knew you always wanted -- is coming.

Heinz announced Monday the mayonnaise/ketchup mashup would be sold at major grocery store chains and on Amazon starting later this month.

When the product was released in the Middle East earlier this year, word spread quickly, touching off a global grassroots campaign to bring it to America and other parts of the world.

Well, it worked.

“After seeing the unprecedented passion surrounding this product, including the nearly one million votes on social media and 500,000 votes in favor of bringing it stateside, launching Mayochup in the U.S. was a no-brainer,” Heinz Marketing Director Nicole Kulwicki said in a release. “We’re excited to officially welcome Heinz Mayochup sauce to the Heinz family of products, including ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce and our most recent addition, Heinz mayonnaise.”

Mayochup, which combines the tastes of mayonnaise, ketchup and a special blend of spices, is seemingly ideal for anything you would normally put ketchup and mayo on. In other words-- burger: yes; hot dog: definitely no.

Heinz isn’t saying exactly when Mayochup will arrive in stores, but fans can decide which city -- Culver City, CA, Chicago or Brooklyn, NY -- gets to try it first by placing their vote on Twitter. Or you can just get some ketchup and mayo and mix them together.

In the meantime, I’ll be working on my pitch to Heinz for a ketchup and Worcestershire sauce mixture that I’m calling either Ketchupshire or Worcesterchup sauce.
