MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) — A school board member in Mississippi retained his seat by a single vote.

The Enterprise-Journal reports the election was Tuesday in the North Pike School District.

The incumbent, Scott Campbell, received 90 votes and the challenger, Betty Webber, received 89.

Campbell says he is happy he won but disappointed that only about 15 percent of registered voters cast ballots.

He says he will use his victory as a civics lesson to show that every vote counts.
