Train hits car in Fairhope

January 13, 2019

A CSX train hit a vehicle on Fairhope Road in Fairhope early Saturday morning at 12:04 a.m.

Berlin fire department and ambulance responded with state police and CSX officials.

Berlin Chief Bill Miller Jr. said that he isn’t sure how the accident happened, but the driver fled the vehicle before the train hit it.

“There was nobody around the vehicle, nobody injured and nobody in it when it was hit,” he said.

He added that the train dragged the vehicle about half a mile down the tracks.

State police and CSX are investigating the incident. A police report was not available Saturday.
