NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans Mardi Gras club is taking a cue from college basketball's Final Four tournament for a fund-raising project.

The Krewe of Red Beans is launching a month-long competition Saturday involving 55 restaurants and chefs. It's called "the Road to the Final Fork."

The 200-member marching club said in a news release that the contest will determine who serves the best red beans and rice.

People will be able to sample and vote on red-beans-and-rice offerings at "pop up" events. And, for $5, participants can fill in tournament brackets predicting winners from four areas of town.

The krewe is a 10-year-old club that marches each year through the Treme (treh-MAY') and Marigny (MAIR'-ih-nee) neighborhoods. Information on its fundraiser is being posted at .
