Witnesses tell police naked man tried to strangle dog

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a Syracuse man is facing a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals after witnesses told authorities he tried to strangle a dog and pull its legs apart.

The Post-Standard reports officers arrived at Burns Avenue on Friday evening after getting reports that a naked man was trying to kill a dog.

The man was taken into custody.

Officers found the dog behind a house, with a leg injury and unable to walk.

Police said the dog was taken to a veterinary center, and had suffered a fractured right front leg, bruising to its eyes, and torn toe nails.
