LACEY, Wash. (AP) — A man who killed his estranged wife and mother-in-law and raped his young stepdaughter before leading authorities on a chase through Lacey and Olympia has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The Olympian reports Ricardo Gardin-Gonzalez pleaded guilty this week to two counts of first-degree aggravated murder, two counts of kidnapping, rape of a child, burglary and assault.

Police say officers were called to a Lacey home July 31, 2017 by a caller who said Gardin-Gonzalez had a gun to 31-year-old Rachel Gardin-Gonzalez's head. Police say officers found her shot and that she died at a hospital. Officers found her mother, 51-year-old Kimberly Redford, dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say Ricardo Gardin-Gonzalez fled with two children in the car, leading police on a chase that ended when police stopped the car and Gardin-Gonzalez shot himself.

Gardin-Gonzalez sobbed while reading a statement of apology.
