SORE SNIPER

Owen Nolan, San Jose’s leading scorer, sat out a 1-0 loss to Dallas in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals Sunday night with foot and shoulder injuries. Nolan scored 20 percent of San Jose’s goals in the regular season, then upped that to 30 percent (six of 20) in the first round as the eighth-seeded Sharks upset St. Louis. San Jose trails Dallas 2-0 in the series.

Dallas goalie Ed Belfour has back-to-back playoff shutouts for the first time in his career after a 1-0 blanking of San Jose on Sunday night. He has won seven straight postseason games at Reunion Arena and allowed just five goals over that span while notching four of his 10 career playoff shutouts.
