Nothing amiss after police investigate suspicious van

The Norfolk Police Division has released a response in regard to social media speculation pertaining a suspicious white van reported near Third Street and Norfolk Avenue.

The van and the activity of its occupants were reported to the police division at 6:42 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6. Two officers responded and had contact with the occupants.

The driver and passenger were both identified. The vehicle license plate was verified and was correct for the vehicle it was on, according to the release from the the police division.

The license plate was registered to the driver of the van. Two cell phones were searched for any videos. No videos were found of any people in the downtown area.

The press release also expressed appreciation of the diligence of the community in protecting its children and always encourages citizens to report any suspicious activity especially when it involves safety of children.
