November 18, 2004

VERONA, Ky. (AP) _ A Greyhound bus collided with a tractor trailer on an interstate, injuring 21 people, one seriously, authorities said.

The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 71, about three miles north of Verona in north-central Kentucky. The interstate was briefly closed in both directions.

The Greyhound was on a regular run from Memphis, Tenn., to Cincinnati, Greyhound spokeswoman Anna Folmnsbee said. She did not know if the driver was among the injured.

The seriously injured person was flown to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Folmnsbee said. A spokeswoman for the hospital would not say if the person’s injuries were life-threatening, citing privacy issues.

The other 20 injured people were taken to hospitals in Florence and Edgewood.
