Lehigh Tunnel Maintenance Set

December 5, 2018

Traffic around the Lehigh Tunnel on Interstate 476 may be slower this week while workers perform maintenance.

The Lehigh Tunnel will change to single-lane traffic in each direction for three days while one section is closed for workers to inspect. Northbound and southbound motorists will share the usual northbound tunnel while workers complete their inspection in the typical southbound tunnel.

All traffic will be diverted to the northbound tunnel from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Highway message boards will update drivers of any changes to the schedule caused by inclement weather or unforeseen traffic conditions. If the work is delayed, it will take place on the next available day.

The Lehigh Tunnel is located between the Lehigh Valley-Exit 56 and Mahoning Valley-Exit 74 interchanges.

In August, workers completed maintenance in the southbound lanes of the tunnel.
