Suspect arrested after driving on drugs
A man was arrested Saturday after allegedly driving recklessly to Beatrice while under the influence of drugs.
At around 4 p.m. Saturday Gage County deputies were called to reports of a reckless vehicle entering Gage County from Highway 77 traveling south.
The black vehicle was reportedly driving in the median area and was missing a rear tire, driving only on the rim.
The vehicle allegedly almost rolled over before striking road signs and continuing to drive.
Beatrice Police found the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Sixth and Sargent streets.
The driver, 22-year-old Simon J. Hauck, showed signs of impairment but the officer did not smell alcohol, court documents state. Hauck consented to a breath test which revealed no alcohol in his system.
Court documents state Hauck said he took three Xanax pills around three hours earlier.
Hauck was arrested for reckless driving and driving under the influence of drugs.
His bond was set at $3,500 with a 10 percent deposit and Hauck is due back in court on Oct. 9.
